Where to stay

North or south Fuerteventura?

Build a coherent holiday instead of crossing the island every day.

Planning guide · Sources checked 30 September 2026

Choose the north if your shortlist is here

Corralejo, El Cotillo and a possible Lobos excursion fit naturally into a northern itinerary. Start by marking the activities you genuinely want to do. The best base is often the one that reduces the journeys you would otherwise repeat.

Choose the south if your trip centres on the southern coast

A holiday focused on the Jandía peninsula calls for a different base. Do not book in the north simply because a familiar hotel name appears there, then discover most of your plans are elsewhere.

Split your stay when it solves a real problem

For a longer trip with substantial plans in both areas, compare the inconvenience of changing accommodation with the time spent driving back and forth. Keep arrival and departure days simple.

Use this decision rule

Write down your three most important activities, how you will travel and whether evening walkability matters. Compare accommodation using those criteria. Neither half of the island wins for every traveller.
